My 4th Year Blogiversary Giveaway!

Four years ago, I decided to start a blog on my kids, and just to kind of vent. Ryan and I had moved a few months earlier from warm Hawaii to start a new job in Utah. We were living in my stepmother's basement, I was working 4 hours a day from home for ComTel Hawaii, and had just found out we were expecting Kainoa. So much has changed, so many diapers, sewing, fabric, kids DVDs, and sleepless nights...well, maybe not that much has changed.

It's weird to go back and read your old posts. I wasn't sewing yet back in Feb. 2007, and Keira was only one year old. So weird. Kind of creepy how kids grow up so fast!

February 17th marks 4 years to the day, so to commemorate, I'm giving away a brand new Amy Butler Frenchy Bag pattern and two half yards of Kitty Yoshida's City Girls fabric.  Leave me a comment saying why or when or how you started blogging, and if you don't have a blog, why do you read them?  You have till Saturday morning when I announce the random winner.  Happy blogging!

  1. I started blogging because I always wanted to, and I came up with an idea to do a 365 series, or post every day. A few months later last year, when I was getting really into sewing/quilting, I decide to start my own quilting blog to communicate with other bloggers and also to have something after my 365 is done! I love blogging, congrats on 4 years :)

  2. fun! i do have a blog and started when we moved away from family so they could keep up with our lives. my reasons for blogging have since expanded. i still write about my little family, but it's been a way to work through my emotions as the mother of a daughter with special needs. it's also become a great networking tool to find others in similar situations. writing, for me, is very therapeutic.

p.s. totally thought of you the other day because my husband said, "we can go to the moon, but..." and then finished it off with something random, but he got it from the quote board we had in our apartment when we were driving to church in the hot, hot summer and you said, "we can go to the moon, but we can't make heat resistant steering wheels." too funny.

  4. I only started my blog at the end of summer last year, but I'm addicted. I started it as a way of keeping track of the projects I'd made. I'm a "new crafter" who's always been creative so I'm enjoying trying new crafts and learning skills and my blog is an outlet for that. I don't have any friends who craft so it's a great way to connect with like-minded people.

  5. I don't have a blog yet but I plan starting one soon. I read craft and sewing blogs because they inspire me to make things and I learn a lot from the tutorials. Thanks for the wonderful giveaway!

  9. Hello, Happy Blogiversary! I started blogging late last year. I had just found the sewing blog world and was so fasinated and encouraged, and thought "hey I can do that". I am not very computer savvy, but I love to read and look at pictures. I love all things Amy Butler and the fabrics you have are all gorgeous. Thanks for the give-a-way.

  11. I started blogging in April of last year. I can't believe that my one year blogaversary is coming up so soon. I didn't post very often to begin with, but soon became addicted to the interaction in the quilting and blogging world. I love to see what other people are doing. The stories and inspiration not just for things quilty, but life in general. I love that I can chronicle special events in my life as well as feed my techy addiction. I tried scrapbooking, but realized that one expensive hobby was enough, but that I could basically scrapbook through a blog and put it out there where all of my family and freinds could see it. I also like to talk alot, so coming up with something to say is not hard for me.

  12. I've always been a share everything kind of person.... and I had/have a xanga blog in college (so out of style now). I started my crafty blog as a means to organize tutorials I wanted to try, and to keep up with so many blogs I wanted to follow. Within a month I realized it was a great way to chronicle my own sewing journey. I had no clue of the community out there. I'm now in a bee and several quilting swaps. It's great since I don't really know any modern sewers in real life!

  13. Happy Blogiversary & Thanks for the lovely giveaway!
Well, I started mine two years ago and I wanted it to be a craft & food related blog - but I couldn't actually start it as I didn't have a camera to show anything I made.
Then there were some yummy giveaways and I HAD to post about them :D after a few posts it kind of became a giveaway blog *sigh*
Now I'm gradually 'converting' it to what it was meant to be :-)

  14. Hi! I too started off with a family blog. But then decided to make that private. I'm new to the world of sewing and crafting so I have only recently started reading a lot of blogs and thought I should do a craft blog of my own. I started All This for Them over the summer. I'm totally addicted to sewing, knitting, and crafting now and reading all the great blogs out there!
