Giveaway! May 17th-20th

It's that time again, Sew, Mama, Sew!'s Giveaway Day is today.  I'm giving away 4 all-cotton fabric fat quarters, a 22" zipper, some ric rac, and a bag of scrap ribbon that you can use for sewing or crafting (hair bows!).  This giveaway closes on Thursday, May 20th at midnight, MST.  I'll post the winner on Friday May 21st.

All you have to do is leave a comment telling me who inspires your sewing or crafting and why, could be a family member, a designer, etc.  If you add my blog to your blog roll list or Follow my blog (or if you already do), you can enter a second post saying you've done so.  I'll do a random generator to determine the winner.

I really only have about 5 people who regularly read this blog, so your chances are pretty. darn. good. Make sure to leave your email address or that I can find you via your Blogger Profile in case you win.  Good luck!

  1. So the chances are 1 in 5 huh? The person who TRULY inspires or inspired me to sew was my 4-H sewing leader. She taught me SO much, I wouldn't be able to sew in a straight line without her! AMAZING woman (wish I could move her to Utah and have her live in my basement).

I already follow your blog too, if I win I just have to get over my fear of zippers and make something! :-)

    Miss you Nancy!

  2. My mom used to sew everything for herself and us kids. I remember the cool old sewing machine humming away and the material everywhere. Always made me want to try it myself. So with her help I have tried different things and had so much fun. Thanks for the chance and I think you will have 6 people who read your blog now!!!!

  6. Goodness, so much inspires me. What gt me interesting in sewing was having a little girl who is only five but so tall she's going to be out of little girl clothes really soon, and I don't want her dressing like a teen as a first-grader! But my mom first inspired me -- she's a gifted sewer and sewed a ton of stuff for me as a kid, and now all these ammmaazzzzinng sewing blogs!

  10. This is GREAT Nance! I love that you are doing this to help get people sewing!
Ok well this might be cheesy, but I remember talking to YOU on my couch in AF and saying how I wanted to learn to sew because I hadn't been taught as a girl. And I have ALWAYS had the creative bug inside of me just trying to put words to music. SO I would have to say YOU were my first inspiration and then looking at all the beautiful things that you have created, I just think you are marvelous! So I bought a sewing machine 2 1/2 years ago and am taking sewing lessons and I learn something new everyday. :)Isn't just fun to feel a great sense of accomplishment when you have finished a project? Love you!

My favorites things as I grew up were the dresses, skirts, and dolls she made for me. She didn't have a sewing machine so they were really a labor of love. So now getting to create for my little girl makes me so happy.

  141. I am inspired by my children - that's who I started knitting and sewing for. I love the delight on my toddler's face when he sees me making something for him, and it's great that he's old enough now to be involved in the decisions and design of things (he recently chose a hat pattern and the yarn for it). knit1purljill (at) gmail (dot) com

  160. I can't say that any one thing inspries me, sometimes it's somkething I've seen, sometimes it's hearing someone describe something they're working on and I try to think how I can make it "better", and sometimes I just need something so I figure out how to make it.

  170. I don't have anyone 'with skin' on that inspires me, but all my cyber friends sure do! I see color combos I would think about; patterns that are great and tutes to help with tricky situations. I love the net! I do have a quilt my grandmother made hanging in the kitchen...if there was a fire THAT is the first thing I'd run to save! Not the pictures or money or anything else....just that quilt...freeindeed at myfairpoint dot net
